Indie's Models Own nail varnish

Hello everyone, so today I have a special treat in store for you! A best friend of mine, Indie is going to write her first guest post about a very pretty polish. Over to her...

Hello :)
So I went shopping with That fashion freak Mill on the 30th (unlike me she put hers up straight away) and of course I went to the Models Owns Bottle Shop. I was kind of overwhelmed because I'm not good with people and I don't use much makeup. However I do wear nail varnish a lot, so I bought two colours with the five for £20 offer with That fashion freak Mill.

'Paradise Garage'
The first colour I picked was 'Paradise Garage' from the 'Disco Pants' collection. It is a metallicy green colour (better pictures can be found on the Models Owns website, my camera is extremely bad) I didn't have a green nail varnish, so this was a good find for me :). only one or two coats are needed, and it dries fairly quickly, as long as you don't put a thick layer on, so it is convenient. In some lights I find it has a blueish tinge, which is nice, but means it looks quite similar to another nail varnish colour I have.

'Marquis Maroon'
The second was 'Marquis Maroon' from the 'Diamond Luxe' collection. (Again better pictures on the Models Owns website). It is a dark red, with gold glittery things in it, making it a bit different to a normal red. Because I already have a red I like, I needed something that was different, so this was perfect. It needs a few coats to have a more solid colour, so could take longer to put on but the colour is really nice, making a bit more time spent worth it.

P.S My first try so don't expect much...
Thanks to That fashion freak Mill for helping me and letting me give it a go :)

My visit to the Models Own Bottle Shop

Hello everyone, so today I was out shopping in the Metro Centre in Newcastle when I came across the famed Models Own Bottle Shop. I had heard about it a while ago, although I only thought that there was one in London. So you can imagine the sheer joy, at the mere sight of it.

Firstly I wasn't sure what to expect, although as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a friendly store assistant and a basket with a free gift. This was a pleasant surprise and in every section there were rows upon rows of nail polish. As I was a complete Models Own virgin, I was very thankful for the help.

The first question you were asked was 'What colour and finish would you like?' I was incredibly indecisive as there were so many incredible colours. It was a massive rainbow. I did look at the make up but I found I was drawn to the nail polishes. At first I picked a pale ,powder blue however I ended up choosing a beautiful coral colour from the hyper gel collection. I was with my friends, and we decided as there were was a 5 for £20 offer we would share it out. I found that it was very good value. It was also very helpful that the store assistants swatched colours on their hand. An amazing idea.

                                                                            £5.00 at Superdrug and boots

I have decided that the visit was worth it, and I would advise anyone to take a trip and see it. I was tempted by the whole festival collection, and I will probably buy some of it soon. There will be a review of the hypergel polish soon. Will you be visiting the bottle shop soon? What is your favourite Models Own product?

My top 3 desert island products

Hello everyone, first things first, I am incredibly sorry that I haven't posted in a long time. It's been finals week, so I have had revision on the brain. However here is a new post I hope you will enjoy. I know everyone had their 'Desert Island' products and I love reading about them. So I thought that I'd share mine with you. I also wanted to post this because we are now finally getting into spring/summer so let's hope that the cold will disappear. Fingers crossed! Now, on with the post.

This is one of my recent discoveries, after being a long fan of the Vaseline cocoa lotion. However this is now my number 1 and has replaced it for ever more. It is the Nivea soft cream pot. I have it in 300ml, and between you and me it still isn't big enough ;-) I have really dry skin, and this moisturises it really well. It also has a very light fragrance which doesn't overpower my perfume.

My next product is the simple moisturizer with SPF 30. Now the summer months are coming, it is important to put on a high SPF. Although i can't recommend enough, putting SPF all year round. As dark spots, and fine lines are all caused by sun damage. To prevent that, wear SPF everyday. Now I've got my 'nagging mum' impression out of the way, I can tell you about how good this product is. Fact. It soothes my dry skin, protects and can we please talk about the packaging. So handy and easy to use my dog could use it. Well maybe not literally.

Finally, the classic that is Vaseline cocoa butter therapy. In a post that seems a lifetime ago when I was just starting out, I posted about Vaseline in The superhero product . It seems that their isn't anything it can't do. Except apply it for you. In short , it's perfect for dehydrated lips and unruly brows. Among other amazing uses which you'll find in my old post.

These are my desert island products, they aren't the most interesting but if I was stranded on an island, then these would be the products I'd take. What products would you take? I'd love to hear your opinion in the comments below.

Revlon PhotoReady prime + anti -shine balm review

Hi everyone,

I know this is a bit (read a lot) late but exams have been crazy however I have part 1 of my crazy boots 3 for 2 mini haul. I would have done them all together but I prefer to do more in depth reviews, unless you prefer them altogether- sound off in the comments below. Now, on with the post.

A while ago, I looked like Rudolph the red nose reindeer, the one with the big, massive, shiny red nose. In fact several people pointed it out and decided to sing the song. I do mean a while ago as I discovered powder and concealer in the magic shop, that is boots. I have to admit sometimes I do put too much on, so you can see the powder - not the flawless base I wanted.  However I heard about a balm that could be the answer. It goes by the name Revlon PhotoReady prime + anti-shine balm.

I have to say after trying it for a bit, I have fallen in love with it. However, I'm not loving the wear time. It lasts on my face, for about 5 hours. That's good. However around my nose it lasts about 2 hours...max. However the packaging is good, as it makes it so easy to reapply. Easier than ABC ;) . It is also very sturdy ,and this makes it one less thing to worry about in my make up bag.

The product is a little on the pricey side, as it retails for £9.99. However it is surprising how much coverage it gives. I wear it with and without my make up on.

It does prime like it says it does, and it makes my cc cream so much easier to apply.

Packaging - 5
Price - 3.5

After my love - hate relationship with powder, I think I've finally found the answer. Will you be trying out this balm, or sticking to your trusty powder? Tell me what you think in the comments below.

What is 'Beautiful' ?

Hello everyone,

Recently I've had this question preying on my mind, what does it actually mean to be beautiful? To be honest I don't agree with the social media and power house magazine definition.
I.e - Size O, tall as a tree and a flawless complexion. Sure, I'm not saying these models aren't beautiful or pretty - but I believe there are more layers of meaning .

For example, close your eyes. Imagine the most beautiful girl you can think of. Now, look in the mirror. If you were thinking of the above. Then you are wrong. Social media has influenced us in the way we look and feel. I can tell you from experience, after reading a magazine I felt worse and wondered why didn't I look like them. This isn't healthy, and I bet every single one of you will have compared yourself to a model at least once. That is one of the scariest things about this world today. However, if we work together, we can change this. We don't have to be this way forever. Furthermore, with boys and other girls rating us it all adds extra pressure to us, with exams, growing up and how we look it can make life so much more stressful.

Here's my top 3 things, that I think are beautiful...
  1. Being able to walk in to a room and think 'I'm confident and awesome!'
  2. Being able to be yourself no matter who your with.
  3. Smiling and enjoying yourself - your smile is the prettiest thing you own.

Every morning when you wake up, and look in the mirror think to yourself  'I AM BEAUTIFUL!' Keep thinking this to yourself eventually you will agree with it!
That is my post for today, and also think of Jennifer Lawrence. That girl is so real she could have her own reality TV show. I'm being serious, today with so many celebrities conforming to Hollywood, it's nice to have a girl who is taking a stand.

I hope that this has changed your opinion on what being 'beautiful' is, because I believe every girl is beautiful, including you!

Bourjois rouge edition velvet review in Nude-ist

Hello everyone,

I've been a bit busy since my last post, trying to get to grips with Twitter. If your not following me yet and you're enjoying my posts, then why not? I'm joking, although it would be nice to have some of you following me ;-) Now, as I often say 'On with the post!'

Today I am reviewing one of the Bourjois rouge edition velvet lipstick's in Nude-ist. It's kind of a funny story in how I ended up purchasing it. I started by picking up the new Bourjois CC cream and the nail polish in 'rose lounge -28' as I wanted a suitable polish for school. I got to the till and one of the ladies at boots told me that all the Bourjois products were on offer. If you spent £12 you could pick a lip product free. Originally I was going to get a nude lip gloss, however this product was recommended to me by a store assistant and I had heard about the hype by other bloggers. Therefore that is how this post came to be.

Firstly, let me introduce you to the packaging of this product. I love a good, sturdy lipstick with a screw lid. This is because I can just chuck it in my bag and not have to worry about it coming off. It also looks very professional with the clear plastic, and the branding on the side. Furthermore the applicator is amazing, it makes the lipstick easy to handle and apply.

Then, we have the product. In all honesty I can not find anything wrong with it. The wear time is unbelievably long and when it does wear, it wears evenly so you don't end up with a weird lip liner look going on. However I can not stress enough about exfoliating your lips before applying,as it does have a tendency to sink in to the cracks of your lips. I recommend using the Lush 'The Kiss' lip scrub which I reviewed here . The colours are highly pigmented and it does dry down to a nice matte finish. The  range of colours are also amazing and I will look forward to trying the rest of the collection.

For the price they behave like a high end lipstick. It is now my favourite lipstick as it applies like a gloss but has the pigmentation of a lipstick. I think everyone should own one of these in their make up bags. Will you be trying this type of  lipstick? Pop your comment in the box below.
